Welcome to Vintage Music!!!

Hi my name is Rachel, I am a 16 year old TY student.

For my Transition Year project, I chose to build a website to sell second hand CDs.

I settled on this idea, as I have been brought up through music since a very young age and it has helped me through many tough situations.

Music has recently changed drastically and I think keeping old music and culture alive is really important, not only for people now but for people in the future.

I chose to do CDs, as the main way of listening to music now is on an app on a mobile device. I think using CDs should be brought back into the picture as it is a way of reducing screen time but also being able to enjoy the music with deeper thought and feeling so there are no distractions on the same device. As someone who plays a lot of music whether it’s physically on an instrument or simply listening to other people, it has become really important to me to keep music alive and to give other people the opportunity to explore more areas of the subject.

Vinyls are becoming popular again so I thought it was a good idea to get CDs used more but also for the sustainable part of it for the economy. I think that recycling and reusing is one of my main aims as well, because some of the products I am selling have never even been used and it would be such a shame to see them be thrown away when someone who wanted it more could have it.

One of my main aims was to create a successful, easy-use website that anybody of any age that shares my interest can go on and browse through. Since COVID-19 about 4 years ago, online shopping has become so much more popular than it ever was and I want my website to be easy to use and accessible like the websites for other shops.

I also intend to spread my love and passion for music to other people because it is proven to make someone’s life more happy and fulfilling and which has had that impact on me for my entire life.
